Linda and Lynnette were pleased to have their ‘earth & pine’ creation printed in the book ‘500 Raku’. The ‘Fu Manchu’ pot is made with clay, pine needles and horse hair.
“The jurors agreed that Spindle Vase is an extremely well crafted piece. The top half is very strong yet the proportions work because the rhythm of the lip is repeated in the bottom half of the pot. Doherty clearly continues to challenge herself. There is harmony in the colour and shape yet ultimately it really is about form.”Carol E. Mayer
Contemporary Canadian Ceramics A different approach towards combining shaped elements for decorative effect is introduced by LNDA DOHERTY (British Columbia), who weaves xtruded lengths of clay into lattice-like basket forms. Doherty's long experience as a production studio potter is evident in her exemplary craftsmanship and knowledge base, which has been enriched and expanded through extensive foreign travel. Woven Dish on a Pedestal contrasts an extruded lattice base with a smooth, thrown rim; the tenmoku glaze breaks and pools as it runs over the edges, perfectly complementing the serene and formal Structure.
